What were you trying to do and how can we improve it?
I want to see the official election results from the government. Search engines give me news sites with their spin. I simply want to see what the US government my taxes pays for says the results are. I can not find the popular vote results without a bunch of political bullshit on other sites. Why does this site not show the results? Where do all those news sites get their results?

Looking for official election results
Nov 9, 2024
All major news sites almost certainly get real-time and updated election results from the Associated Press, which has an elections API. But my understanding is that API is expensive and geared toward larger companies/customers and so is not suitable for smaller/independent developers looking to include election results in their application (though I understand the expense that goes into providing real-time results). I'm also not aware of any other accessible or affordable API that provides past or real-time election results.
Although the FEC site makes it clear that it does not show real-time election results and provides certified results only through PDF/Excel format, I agree with the spirit of the feedback above and would love to see an API or endpoint that shows election results shortly after certification. At the moment, there seems to be a notable delay between certification and when results from the FEC are available, since as of December 2024, 2022 midterm results are still not available for download.
Being able to fetch past election results from an API would also be in line with the FEC's mission to make campaign finance and election data more accessible and transparent.
