What we're after: We're in the process of reimplementing the line and bar charts for the national-level data. We're reimplementing the line charts back onto the data landing page, as well as the raising and spending advanced data pages. This dual placement is a temporary solution to help determine the best placement for the charts.

In addition to conducting usability tests from a select number of users, we also intend to implement back into production the reaction box in both places. This will give us additional insight into the usefulness of the charts as well as their placement.

Hypothesis: We expect to see our users go to the advanced data pages to learn more about national level data as opposed to the data landing page.

Pages we need to test:

  • Data landing page
  • Advanced data raising page
  • Advanced data spending page

Questions we need to answer:

  • Are users able to quickly and easily locate the line charts?
  • Are users able to determine what information the line charts are trying to provide?
  • Is this data useful?
  • Do users primarily use the toggle filter or cursor to move through the timeline?
  • Are the bar charts useful?
  • What are our users expectation when looking at data at this level?

Completion criteria:

  • Draft testing script (7.2)
  • Conduct testing and synthesize results (7.3) BLOCKER: Reimplementation of the bar charts.

As part of this testing, we plan to tackle the testing work for the processed vs. raw toggle as well.
