When I'm in NeoHabitat, it's often pretty quiet. I like to do what later became known in WorldsAway as "parking".

Parking just means being logged inworld, hanging out somewhere away from the crowd usually but still accessible via ESP.

Turfs are an ideal place to park so you aren't ignoring people out on the streets

I'd like to propose that we add in an "AFK mode" which you could enable if you wanted to park. All it would do is the following:

  • Avatar 1 parks up for a bit whilst they get some coding done but they enable AFK mode first
  • Something like /afk
  • Avatar 2 logs inworld, presses F3 and sees Avatar 1 logged in
  • Avatar 2 sends an ESP to Avatar 1 hoping to strike up some conversation

At this point, you'll not get a response unless the first avatar happens to be at the computer or has their sound enabled to hear the ESP notification sound. With the proposed AFK mode enabled, the system would auto respond with a short message letting them know the avatar is currently AFK but they'll be back soon. Or perhaps it'd mention Slack too if they were seeking out other active users.

It'd only send a response once to an avatar to avoid spamming and it would always be disabled by default.

I think it'd be a nice QoL feature to add in for those of us who want to populate NeoHabitat but can't spend the day waiting for someone to drop in.
