Hi there, please note that there's a big difference between the STATIC editions based on Leap and the ROLLING editions based on Tumbleweed.
If you want to use a ROLLING edition, please do a full system update before attempting any additional software installation:
That is the intended behavior of the prompt if you don't agree to it. If you don't want or don't need it then please uninstall the package.
That's just due to persistent problems with Leap 15.3 in the software.opensuse.org search mechanism. Simply go into whichever OBS repo has what you're looking for in Leap 15.2 or 15.4 and then you'll see the section for 15.3 too. For example these ones have
Another option for newer hardware support on Leap is sometimes via installing the latest stable Kernel from here: |

I have an older laptop that's dying. I bought a new one, but it has Realtek wireless RTL8821CE, so no Linux distributions support it in the kernel yet. I already installed Devuan on the internal SSD. I though I'd install Gecko MATE Tumbleweed on an external SSD via the old laptop, install the Realtek drivers, and then use it on the new laptop. I installed Tumbleweed and then tried to install the Realtek drivers from OpenSUSE. But that resulted in:
error: Failed dependencies:
filesystem < 84 conflicts with kernel-firmware-realtek-20211027-1.1.noarch
So openSUSE's website is wrong when it claims that the above rpm will work.
Then I tried to update, but saw the following question:
In order to install 'Mesa-dri-nouveau', you must agree to terms of the following
license agreement:
WARNING: Nouveau DRI/3D driver selected.
Please click "Accept" if you accept the risks that may come with the
installation of this driver. Choose "Cancel" to prevent installation
of the driver and use software emulation instead.
Do you agree with the terms of the license? [yes/no] (no):
I selected NO, but then saw:
Aborting installation due to user disagreement with Mesa-dri-nouveau package license.
So I'm forced to accept the stupid driver, even though I have a PC with no NVIDIA hardware. The instructions are wrong, given that CANCEL is not an option -- I tried -- and YES leads to software I don't want.
Any suggestions?
P.S. I would very much prefer to stay with Leap, but there does not appear to be any Realtek driver for it. There are community drivers for Leap 15.2 and 15.4, but none for 15.3.
