some errors during startup but after everything works fine

Since I installed gecko, or maybe since I updated it to the version with gnome 42, I get this log during the start that was hard to read because it appeared only for a split second. Yesterday I did an update where the kernel version cause other problems and I got to read the message.

I don't know to what it relates, is it something that opensuse is responsible, gecko, or linux in general? Did I do something wrong during installation? How can I deal with this error that causes no noticeable error or behaviour during use of the OS?

Hi there,

Those are errors relating the the ACPI (power management) system, usually inconsequential, and they are extremely common with Linux on most hardware. They can be safely ignored. At any rate, that would be an openSUSE issue, since GeckoLinux does not create or modify any system-level code nor does it compile its own packages.

Of course, the kernel panic that happened later in the screenshot is a huge problem, but I assume that wasn't on your hardware or maybe you already figured out what happened with that.

the kernel panic is something with an easy workaround in opensuse/gecko. just use a different kernel from the advanced startup settings. seems that a quiet a lot of TW users have it the last two days.

You can try to file an openSUSE bug report, but nothing can really be done. Those errors just come and go with different kernel releases. It's due to quirks and oddities with the ACPI implementation of each specific piece of hardware.
