Hi there, Thanks for the question. It's definitely a valid concern, but fortunately it's one that I also shared and took into account. GeckoLinux was designed specifically with a view to being completely dependent on the extensive infrastructure and human resources of the openSUSE and Packman projects. There are no custom GeckoLinux packages or package repositories. So once installed, I am completely removed from the picture, and the installed GeckoLinux system is an openSUSE installation that will continue to receive updates from openSUSE and Packman. Even the GeckoLinux website and ISOs are hosted on completely free services that will continue to exist, so no domain or hosting fees are required to continue offering the downloads. Hope this helps. |

I also wondered the same especially since the maintainer also work on another distribution. Regarding being independent could you create an organisation instead of a user to move all the projects from Gecko Linux under? |

I understand that but all configuration for that method is inside your
user account if you want collaboration through more people than using a
Github organization is much easier.

Hello,
The GeckoLinux project does not have a large team of devs behind it and is effectively the result of one person's hard work. I was wondering, therefore, what would happen to GL if the project were to end one day. Clearly the underlying openSUSE would continue to exist, but would there be any accumulation of issues if GL were to be abandoned?
I'm asking this because I've only recently heard about GL (but have been using SUSE on an off for years; currently on Tumbleweed) and I wanted to avoid finding myself with a broken distro if GL wasn't maintained anymore.
Apologies if this feels slightly morbid; I totally appreciate your effort and dedication! :)
