Hello fellow Gecko users,
I'm running barebones. And have updated tumbleweed to the latest kernel and apps. Now, what I'm trying to do is simply disable the login manager(which I thought was lightdm) and have X start by using startx.
So when I do
systemctl disable lightdm.service
I get an error kicked back to me saying there is no lightdm.service. So I did some digging and found out about xdm and it looks like that's what Barebones is using. So Isystemctl xdm.service
, and I get a message saying that xdm.service has been deleted. So I thought cool, now when I reboot my computer I'll be greeted by nothing but a terminal(or tty I guess) and can login using startx. But when I rebooted my computer xdm display manager still popped up. I've never used startx before to log into X, but all the guides I've read say pretty much the same thing. Disable the display manager and you'll be good to do. So what am I doing wrong here?
Thanks for any help
tldr; can't get startx working on Barebones
