How to see just the authors in the gutter?

I installed GitLets because I'm missing a trivial functionality of seeing line-authors in the left gutter. Yet, after installing this mighty and powerful extension I don't see how it can be achieved. I only found so far how to see commits in the gutter, which btw consumes half of my screen. But I need AUTHORS, not commits.

Is there way? Maybe using some custom template?
