As I was not able to use assets, I extended the docker-compose.yml with the following line: /assets:/home/sites/picocms/assets
Restarting the container resulted in a created folder assets (just like content, themes, etc.), so we can see some progress.
But the result was just the same, assets could not be accessed by %assets_url%

Hello @markbaaijens and thank you for your feedback ! It has been more than 5 years since my work on this project that I made available for others to re-use.
Unfortunately I don't have the time to maintain it or troubleshoot issues at this time.
Feel free to reply here if you make progress on finding a fix or identifying the root of the issue, or you can submit a pull request if you find a solution.
