You shouldn't be trying to use the proprietary Brother drivers. https://wiki.debian.org/CUPSDriverlessPrinting is a much better framework.

in practice what I'm trying to do is install CUPS on a raspberry Pi and connect an MFC-1810 even if looking on the internet I can't understand if this thing (given the raspberry arm32 architecture) is possible or not

I'm saying: don't try to use the Brother drivers; using IPP-USB within Driverless printing should get you working. The standards' implementation for Brother printers is much better than their drivers, that are quite likely not to work on Raspbian.
