pip install fails for python 3.12 and 3.11

Describe the bug
Following the how to in the readme https://github.com/jaketae/storyteller?tab=readme-ov-file#source yields an error.

To Reproduce

Expected behavior
Get a working dev version

Desktop (please complete the following information):
Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS

$ python --version
Python 3.12.3
$ pip --version
pip 24.0

It does work on python 3.10 so for me

storyteller$ python3.10 -m venv venv
storyteller$ source venv/bin/activate
(venv) [...]/storyteller$ pip install -e .[dev]

works fine.
