SUMMARY

Latitude measures how far north or south of the Equator a location on the
Earth's surface is situated. The Equator is situated at 0 degrees.

A positive latitude indicates that a position is situated north of the Equator. A
negative latitude indicates that a position is situated south of the Equator.

NOTE: The North Pole is situated at 90 degrees latitude; the South Pole is
situated at -90 degrees latitude.

Longitude measures how far east or west of the Prime Meridian a location on the
Earth's surface is situated. The Prime Meridian is defined to run through
Greenwich, England.

A positive longitude indicates a position is situated east of the Prime Meridian.
A negative longitude indicates a position is situated west of the Prime
Meridian.
