Disabling auto-eject and not rip a dvd more than once?

I like to disable auto-eject so that whenever a movie finishes ripping, the tray stays closed. I want to do this because in the past, my dvd drive has broken because it was left open for long periods of time after ripping movies and was damaged by dust. I know this is already a feature, and I have indeed disabled auto-eject. However, if I leave a disk in for too long, like overnight for instance, the movie will rip multiple times, just under slightly different output directory names. Is there a feature that will allow me to keep the tray closed after a disc is finished ripping, and also make it so that a movie will only be ripped a single time while in the tray?
