Thanks for this integration, it works really well! I was wondering if there are any plans to transition it from HACS to an official Home Assistant integration?

Not really. Is there a specific reason why you want this?

Well basically it revolves around not needing to have the HACS addon installed. It would make NHC 2 support a lot more visible to a lot of HA users and It would make it easier to just run HA in docker with a default integration.

It will require a lot of work to become an official integration. For example: creating a separate library for communicating with the controller, or trying to move to MQTT. Writing test, I guess some level of coverage is needed. I think also the bronze quality label is a requirement.

So a bunch of work ;-)
I don’t say no. But probably not very realistic, or soon. Ofcourse you are welcome to submit PR to help to become an official integration.

In my very personal opinion: I don’t know anyone that is using only official integrations an is not using HACS. In my opinion HACS is what makes Home Assistant extremely powerful. But that is my very own opinion.

You might be right about most people using HACS, but for me personally, I could do without and it would make a difference for me, and like I said it would get a lot more visibility for your plugin and the fact that there is a functioning NHC2 integration.

It seems like there have been attempts that unfortunately have been allowed to go stale:

If I look at the size of the change it didn't seem that massive and I don't see why your implementation should need all of those reworks if see what other integrations manage to get into the official repo. (Seems like you shouldn't be adding own tests as long as the main repo tests don't break)

I'd love to offer to help out but that is not a possibility at the moment.
