I'm a beginner, I wanted to understand:

why are there 3 axes
does the encoder input refer to the spindle encoder?
what is the difference between the SCALE and PULSE inputs
thanks

Some people have third axis connected to a motor that does something useful like moving the spindle by precise amount through a worm gear.

Encoder input does refer to the spindle encoder.

Scale inputs are intended to be used for optical linear scales that could be connected in the future. This is currently not supported in the code yet.

thanks for your quick reply
I read that it is possible to connect the joystick, but how should it be connected?

https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_EvUXDw0 the hardware is designed to work with joystick like this but the software support is missing for now.

There's support to move axes using optical encoders via PULSE ports as shown in the video https://youtu.be/5tatYO8pFr4

I downloaded the h5.hmi file but if I open it with "NEXTION EDITOR" it is empty, can you give me some advice?
thanks

Sorry I'm not near my computer this week. Please try updating the editor or restarting the PC. File should have black background and 4 text fields as well as a startup instruction for the baud rate.
