Adding PMTiles Support in Qt based mobile app

Hi,

I am developing a Qt based Maplibre Native mobile app for android and iOS platform.

I saw a pull request from @tdcosta100 at repo URL https://github.com/tdcosta100/maplibre-native.git with branch "pmtiles-support"

I am building maplibre-native-qt from repo: https://github.com/maplibre/maplibre-native-qt.git, with "main" branch and trying to incorporate code changes from this pull request.

I have simply replaced the existing maplibre-native directory inside vendor/ with the maplibre-native from this pull request and trying to compile the maplibre native Qt SDK.

However, I am facing some compilation errors related to headers not found ( found but at different paths as needed by cpp code)

I think that I should manually chase all commits in this pull request and add changes in related files inside maplibre-native-qt/vendor/maplibre-native. If there is some simpler/easier way of doing this, pls suggest.

I was wondering if I need to write Qt bindings to support PMTiles in Qt app...

Looking forward to some tips on this.

I think you need to compile with C++20.

Is there any raster type pmtiles source example using local file pmtiles file, that I can refer to?

I am unable to render raster type.

Vector type, I can render nicely.

Not sure if PMtiles raster tiles will work. Please try it out and if it doesn't work, feel free to create an issue.

@navisinghnz9 Can you share how you got Qt to compile with the latest main?

1. I had forked the repo maplibre-native-qt and pushed some code changes to branch "pmtiles_support"
   https://github.com/navisinghnz9/maplibre-native-qt/tree/pmtiles_support

2. Also, had forked maplibre-native (after the PM Tiles pull request from @tdcosta100 was merged into "main",)
   and made some code changes and pushed them in branch "pmtiles_support_for_qt_app"
   https://github.com/navisinghnz9/maplibre-native/tree/pmtiles_support_for_qt_app

3. Then changed submodules in maplibre-native-qt to point to forked's repo's url for maplibre-native and synced them and build the maplibre native qt repo in following steps:-

• checkout branch pmtiles_support in maplibre-native-qt and did submodule update.
• Then cd to vendor/maplibre-native, checkout branch pmtiles_support_for_qt_app and do submodule update.
• Finally build with cmake and ninja.
