Describe the bug

When running tests on Linux/Windows using Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome, tests would fail for playwright versions 1.46, 1.47 and 1.48 with the error

<launched> pid=3456
[pid=3456][err] Old Headless mode has been removed from the Chrome binary. Please use the new Headless mode (https://permanently-removed.invalid/docs/chromium/new-headless) or the chrome-headless-shell which is a standalone implementation of the old Headless mode (https://permanently-removed.invalid/blog/chrome-headless-shell).
[pid=3456][err]

Workaround

  • Upgrade to Playwright version 1.49 or higher

Setup

  • Browser - Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge
  • Playwright Versions - 1.46, 1.47 and 1.48
  • Remote OS - Linux or Windows
