If a VS Code variable can be used in Base Path setting (e.g. ${workspaceFolder}\runbooks) then you could easily manage the scripts via Git repository. Modified scripts could be checked in into dev branch. You could easily switch between different script versions (just change the local branch and upload the script to runbook via action Upload As Draft).
