Jupyter notebook flickers when auto save is on

I'm trying to work with Jupyter notebook on a remote server. It is connected to a dev container running on this remote server. The notebook seems to flicker constantly when auto save is on. I do not want to switch off auto save. I am not sure what is causing this problem.

Here's an example notebook, both these cells have been executed.

But when the auto save kicks in, the green ticks go away, and my cursor is thrown out of the cell. This results in a horrible typing experience.

Does anyone know what the root cause of this issue is? Or can someone help me debug this problem?
