When you launch most of InfiniteMac's PowerPC environments in SheepShaver (e.g. Mac OS 8.5) there's an association issue that launches an extremely old TeachText app instead of SimpleText, resulting in most 1990's ReadMe files from the Infinite HD volume being "empty" (because TeachText only opens raw ASCII text files from the 1980's and not SimpleText documents, which could hold formatting, color text and pictures). Classic Mac OS would find an appropriate app on the same volume where you opened the document, so you will only see this issue when you open a ReadMe file on Infinite HD, not on Macintosh HD (since Macintosh HD only has the SimpleText app and not the TeachText app).
I think the best course of action would be that you delete TeachText from the Infinite HD. It's useless since SimpleText will gladly open raw text files that TeachText produced in the 1980's too.
