LWUIT (Light Weight UI Toolkit) for Series 40 provides several style, theming, functional and performance improvements to LWUIT. It supports Nokia SDK 1.1 and 2.0 for Java to develop applications for Series 40 5th Edition and newer devices with both keyboard and touch user interface. Watch the introduction video.
To get the productised v1.0 package with new documentation into the Nokia SDK 2.0 for Java, check for updates in the SDK Manager. Developers wanting immediate access to latest LWUIT binaries or source can still follow the upcoming updates in the project pages.
Nokia Asha 1.1 SDK (beta) features a further improved LWUIT package that adds Asha theme for the LWUIT UI components and a set of new Nokia Asha specific UI components.
- Comprehensive UI library. Use the rich set of easily customisable UI components, such as Table, Calendar, and HTML.
- Transitions and animations. Add animations to UI components and transitions between Forms using Animation Framework.
- UI and theme design. Use Series 40 themes or create custom themes. Create UIs and themes with Resource Editor.
- Layout management. Define Layouts, such as grid, table, and flow in code editor or using Resource Editor.
- Scalability and portability. Port from other platforms. Develop for Series 40 phones with different UI styles and screen sizes.
- Faster time-to-market. Develop compelling applications faster than with LCDUI Canvas - with easy learning curve.
