I don't really want to maintain this as a huge project, so I'd like to make a "lighter" version. As an ideal, I'd strip out everything I don't need to simplify this into the most basic version possible. MT32 Lite for USB Pi.

My ideal:

  • Only supports 02W and ideally 4B.
  • Only supports USB-Gadget-MIDI.
  • Extra bonus if it supports USB-Audio return, but failing that; SPDIF via an i2s DDC.
  • Strip out Fluidsynth, USB Host, MIDI over IP, headphone, GPIO midi, Serial MIDI, MISTER support, FTP.

This is not meant to replace mt32-pi, but since it's not currently in active development I'd like to make a customised version that can be used to make a modern "hardware synthesizer".
