Manual partition, encrypt root partition without separate /boot partition, grub attempts to decrypt the cryptouuid, but fails claiming device doesn't exist? learning the actual UUID including the hyphens (as grub doesn't show hyphens) doesn't help. attempting to decrypt the partition from grub rescue> still results in same error. using the (hd2,gpt2) method finds the UUID, but STILL fails to decrypt as though it can't find the device. This seems to be a Grub configuration problem that I cannot locate.
