Composter composts everything (with nothing in hand)

The composter (including modded ones) composts when I right-click when having nothing on a hand. If both my hands are full, the composter does not compost. The composter function works with its compostable items, though.

I did this today without even really noticing as the seeds I was using had run out. Guess I need to either stop using the composter or pay really close attention for now.
