According to The Verge (http://www.theverge.com/gaming/2012/8/8/3228247/valve-to-sell-non-gaming-software-on-steam-starting-september-5th) Steam will offer the option to add also other Software than Games.
With Steam updating to a new Version would be much more comfortable.
Now Steam is only available for Win + Mac but Valve is porting Steam to Linux (http://blogs.valvesoftware.com/linux/steamd-penguins/)
The other reason is if we add Nightingale to the Library and Steam-users browse the Steam-Library we reach more people...

Sounds cool, but I think we will have to agree to the Valve policy at some time.

@HowUpDoHighKnee
If you can, could you look at how we can submit our app to the Steam green-light program as software submission ?
Thanks.

Simply by waiting until greenlight accepts software and then paying around
100$ to submit.

Greenlight is accepting submits. And I understood/hope it's just for
GAMES(!!). The fee was created because games with brutal and sexual content
has been submitted.

Offtopic: the fee should also prevent false entries. So fans don't submit a game they want to see on steam.

So greenlight just opened for software. However there's still a 100$ submission fee. Source: http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/10/18/steam-greenlight-updated-with-non-game-software-free-early-concept-posting/

Wow that was fast, maybe they heard me ? ;)
Maybe we should wait first until 1.11.1 release 🎯

Hm, we could actually be able to self-publish. Buuuut, it might require at least partial controler support... Actually, there is a mediaplayer just for windows, without controler support. So easy peasy then.

Imho we should not try to get into steam. If we had money we should invest that into our infrastructure first imho. I don't see how it is well spent there (Disclaimer: I dislike the whole Steam thing a lot)?

Hmm at least we can try, and maybe we could put this GitHub issue on Bountysource ?

So what happened to this? I would contribute 20 $ if this is still wanted and we can usee Steam well. Nightingale somehow did not really improve over the last years and I find that a little bit disappointing.

@goldsteal Well, Steam is just a game/software library, if you want Nightingale to be improved, feel free to donate on others features request on BountySource: https://www.bountysource.com/teams/nightingale/issues
