Noisebridge-announce mailing list not reliable #170
Comments
We need to do more work on the mailman infra.
There's already an open issue for upgrading: #68. Part of my plan was to move the lists to a different VPS instance. |
What's the quick and dirty fix to remediate the outage while the longer
term upgrades take place?

- I've seen a bunch of signup spam, which I think may be crashing the
process.
- We need to update to the current major release, we're on a
deprecated version.

happend again today when i tried to email noisebridge-discuss about the elevator being down for maintenance :( |
@SuperQ Is there logging that can track this stuff available? I poked around in grafana and didn't see something i could recognize. And im not sure if I have access to prometheus externally, i couldn't figure it out. |
Hi Rack team,
I think that the Noisebridge-announce mailing list is broken. I was able to approve one message from myself in March (see https://lists.noisebridge.net/pipermail/noisebridge-announce/), but I haven't gotten a
Your message to Noisebridge-announce awaits moderator approval
email since January. On April 7th I tried to send an email and not only was I missing the approval email, I also never saw my email in the queue to be approved. (I posted this on #rack on the day it happened: https://noisebridge.slack.com/archives/C02A1V2PY/p1554698101003700)
It's really nice to have the Announce mailing list as it reaches some people (especially some members of the community that have been around a long time) that Meetup.com/Slack/Discuss don't reach. What needs to be done to get this back in working order?
Thanks
Ruth
