I assume there's some optimizations we could make to re-use data when calculating a radial plot, vs many individual plots.

There definitely is. I don't quite have the vocabulary to google for prior art for this, but even an naive algorithm would cut out quite a bit of redundant work.

To be a little more specific, we want radial plotting, but need to rasterize it because computers.

We could raster to h3 hexes, we don't need pixel rastering
