Directory History function doesn't work

the d function ,and pressing H and L in Normal mode doesn't work for me
it always says Directory History is empty. It will be created automatically

my fish version is 3.3.1 my oh my fish version is 7 and I use Pop!_OS 20.04 LTS

the c function and other functions work just fine
and I noticed that when I switch to another theme (because of it keeping the functions of the previous themes) when I try the d command and pressing H and L in normal mode works just fine.

Fish Version 3.3.1 , OMF Version 7, on Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS
