OCM aims to provide data specifically for electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Increasingly this means official (dedicated, commercial or gov supported) infrastructure rather than 'opportunity' charging (i.e. using an available electrical supply just because it's there are you can reach it).
I think apps like plugshare etc map lots of opportunity charging spots already so the information is there if people need to refer to it, adding more of these unofficial locations to the OCM database creates noise, confusion and a maintenance burden and they are potentially misleading for new EV owners and for tracking statistics on charging infrastructure.
Discouraged/to be removed:
Camp site power outlets
parking garage outlets intended for other uses (cleaning etc)
domestic supplies
Debatable listings:
hotels etc which share a non-EV specific power supply with guests
Preferred listings:
Dedicated EV charging infrastructure (especially high powered, dedicated parking etc)
So this proposal is to discourage the addition of non-official EV charging infrastructure in OCM and to eventually filter or remove such sites from the database.
