Description of issue

How long does it take for the endpoint https://formulae.brew.sh/api/formula.jws.json to get updated with the latest version of formulas found on master in the core repo https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew-core?

The API update workflow runs every 15 minutes. See https://github.com/Homebrew/formulae.brew.sh/blob/master/.github/workflows/tests.yml.

And do you have an idea why it takes longer locally to recognise the newer versions? I thought the local brew executable fetches the JSON and compares it with a local one (or something similar)?

Example:

Right now I am trying to upgrade a formula:

brew upgrade protoc-gen-go      
Warning: protoc-gen-go 1.36.1 already installed

while the latest one is 1.36.2, as seen in both the web and the API.

And for second reference - only ~20 minutes ago a gh formula was updated locally, while it was merged ~15 hours ago.

A classic, seems like it was a cache issue for me. The cached formula.jws.json in /Users/<MY_USER>/Library/Caches/Homebrew/api was different from the one in the API. Simply deleting all cached files in the directory forced new fetch from the api, which I couldn't force by the CLI. Now everything seems up to date :)

Just to be sure it's not a brew bug, what's the output of brew config and brew doctor?
