Use ddev router for service on host

How do I proxy a host service (not in docker or ddev)?

e.g. on host: localhost:8080

Hi @woldtwerk - Could you be more specific about what you're trying to do? Are you asking a question, or providing a solution?

Information about traefik configuration is at https://ddev.readthedocs.io/en/stable/users/extend/traefik-router/#traefik-configuration

host.docker.internal is already defined in ddev-router container, so it's not necessary to add configuration to get that.

Overall, you're better to add your service to DDEV with a docker-compose.*.yaml, but I'll probably understand better when you give more details about what you want to accomplish.

The issue was that my service was only listening for 127.0.0.1. I made it listen for everything. Now it works fine.

host.docker.internal is already defined in ddev-router Are you sure about that? It's not in the .router-compose-full.yaml
If I remove my router-compose.custom.yaml it doesn't work anymore

You can easily test the fact. docker exec -it ddev-router bash and ping host.docker.internal

I tested on macOS with OrbStack. It's possible it doesn't get defined in your environment.

Followup: A quick check on Linux shows that host.docker.internal is not defined there, as you experienced. Many docker providers provide it automatically; ddev provides it on linux to ddev-webserver but not to ddev-router.
