SMB PS2 server through powerline

Do you think that is possible to run smb server from rpi and connect it to the ps2 ethernet port through a powerline?

as in EoP adapters? sure, performance will depend on the quality of the connection which will be influenced by the quality of the lines etc.

Here the problem. Host is not reachable. I set that IP randomly. Is there some logic to assign it? I'll try another ethernet cable meanwhile

as i mentioned earlier, you can now see in that screenshot that there is no inet address on eth0 so there wont be a route to that ip .... you'll need to set a static ip on eth0 for communication over rpi ethernet. assuming the ps2 is connected directly to the ethernet port on the rpi

I would suggest you put your devices eth0/ps2 in their own subnet tho unless you expect your main network to be able to talk directly to the ps2, if so you might as well plug the cable into whatever the windows machine is plugged into so it can all work properly

retronas has nothing to do with rpi networking by default, you are expected to provide your own networked rpi atm, that said there are new experimental features for managing networking in testing atm.

The ip is now set up: inet 192.168.2.1/24 brd 192.168.2.255 scope global eth0 (changed also on OPL network settings under ps2 ip address)

What about gateway and dns server? Which IP should I set? I still receive error 300: Cannot connect to SMB server

use 192.168.2.1 although there is no actual DNS service installed on retronas by default either, as per previous comments around networking. noting direct mode will not get you internet access automagically. Set the ps2 to an IP address in the 192.168.2.x net.

after you've set the ip correctly on retronas you will need to restart samba service on the retronas unit as well, this can be completed through the menus or by rebooting the unit

Sorry for the late reply but I was away for work. I still cannot reach the SMB server on PS2.
This is were I set the IP for eth0: sudo nano /etc/network/interfaces.d/eth0.

OPL version is 1.2.0 beta. Could this cause a problem? I had another server and worked fine. So I don't think that this particular version can harm to the connection.

From terminal I can ping 192.168.2.2 without issues.

your ps2 and eth0 on the pi cannot have the same ip address and be expected to work.
