I notice what initially Surreal was written in Go and then go to Rust (pun intended).
It's really interesting for me (and to others, I hope), how much time and efforts this took? How changed maintenance cost, does architecture of code changes significantly? Does it involve learning Rust from scratch? And which overall conclusions were made after this? Was it worth efforts, in the end? Would you do it again, with current knowledge of this path (and, if yes - how)?
And, of course, how this transition was made? Was it step-by-step, or just complete rewrite from scratch? Did Go tests help you?
And, maybe, what was a reasons behind this decision? I saw words about data sharing guaranties in your blog, maybe there is some more not so obvious reasons?
Thanks in advance!
