Why doesn't :deep work in <style module>?

It seems that this issue was reported in 2020, for Vue 2: vuejs/vue-loader#1703.
However is was not resolved, and was just abandoned.

It's 2023 now, Vue 3 is the current version and Vite is used instead of Webpack.
Should another feature request be opened? If so, in what repo: vuejs/core, or vitejs/vite-plugin-vue?

I wanted to use <style module> primarily for styling child components.
If a component has multiple roots, then it will not receive data-* attribute required for <style scoped> styles to apply, even if v-bind="$attrs" is applied to one of the roots (see issue #5446).
But module styles compile into a single class name, without data-* attributes, and so they are perfect for styling multi-root child components.

Because :deep() is specifically as feature of scoped css, not module. It does not translate to how CSS modules work.
