Glob import for esm

Hi,

I’ve made a very rough pr here #7626 which is an attempt to make glob imports work properly for esm as well as commonjs.

I’m almost certain that there are problems with the way I’m doing it, and my test case isn’t a real test as yet. Could someone take a look and give some feedback?
