running alphafold finetune predictions without templates

Hi! From what I've understood: alphafold finetune is an alphafold model that was finetuned for protein-protein contacts. Am I right?

Since it's alphafold, a structural predictor, can it run structural predictions without a template?
Up to now, I haven't managed to do a prediction without providing a template.
If this isn't possible, could someone explain to me why?
