Version 1.24 on 3B+ with Epyx FastLoad hangs on load

Purchased a pre-assembled Pi1541 to use in conjunction with my RP 3B+. Used it for a couple weeks without issue on .D64 files. I then upgraded the kernal to 1.24 for the .D81 support. I also added the proper ROM (1581-rom.318045-02.bin). If I try to load from a .D81 image with my Epyx FastLoad enabled it will hang on SEARCHING FOR * after I type /* (LOAD "",8). If I disable the FastLoad and type LOAD"",8 it works fine. Is this a known issue?
