x3270, wx3270 & family should support command actions similar to browsers for new windows:

• Control-N / Command-N for a new unconnected window of the same type and terminal characteristics as the current window.
• Shift-Control-N / Shift-Command-N for a new window of the same type and terminal characteristics as the current window connected to same host as the current window.

(Yes, this is requires a expensive spawn action under the covers for this uncommon but useful action, whereas browser windows are coded to multiply like rabbits.)
