What are you missing?

(PCT Workshop Feedback)
Currently i have to manually edit a lot of information in the downloaded excel sheet (sample registration/editing, measurement registration/editing). While doing so, if i drag and drop values within the cells the numerical value is incremented automatically. This is especially annoying if it happens within the URL of the instrument and organisation ontology.

Why do you need a solution?

Having to manually troubleshoot the incremented value is hard to find. Additionally, I can only get the values validated while trying to upload the sheet, which takes some time.

Ideas

Maybe the cells/sheet can be formatted so excel does not increment the value?

This is an excel feature. Simply hold Option or Alt while dragging and no incrementation takes place.

@KochTobi I also investigated this and agree, sadly there is no easy way to solve this within excel. Maybe I can update the documentation with a small warning box 🤔

Since there is no technical solution possible, The documentation should be updated with a small warning box informing the user about the possiblity of auto incrementation.
This especially happens within URLs that end in a number (e.g. RoR Id.)

Another suggestion could be to expand the error messages with a solution to the most common issue (e.g. "please check the validity of all RoR Ids" if the issue occured there)
