Please be as descriptive as possible, including: what is expected, why is this feature needed, what is the objective, etc.

What is the feature being requested?

GDSPY is now deprecated, need to port to gdstk
See https://github.com/heitzmann/gdspy

What are use cases for this feature?

Core to the GDS export files. Only affects 3 files. High importance.
Very painful and obstructive to the installation however.
