Support for Rust source code inside .gz?

This is a strange one but:
I've stored racer and the Rust source in a synced folder. The large number of small files in the Rust source directory are causing problems for my sync application. Would it be possible to support having the source in a gz or similar? I understand if the answer is a definitive no.

Maybe mount it as a filesystem with archivemount in the meanwhile?

Hi @voltagex. I'm unlikely to get round to coding gz support myself, but if you or somebody else fancies it I'd be happy to take a patch
