[Request] Remove X amount of gold/coin AND or X amount of custom item on long rest (dnd5e) #174
Comments
I will not be implementing this, but this module is open source and accepts code contributions from anyone :) |
Hi @Dalsie - wondering if the recent update to include costs for "external food/water" is sufficient for you here. Thanks. |
Hi roth-michael. I was not aware of the update until you replied here as I had not been using the module. But if recent updates enable the above, I'm definitely going to revisit. I played around with it briefly, it definitely seems like adding a cost to for external food and water can be the equivalent of removing X amount of gold per day. The only hiccup I found is not being able to remove food and water AND a cost (or in this case, a 'external food' cost). Thanks a ton for letting me know about the update |
Hey, no problem. I've taken over the module which is why I figured I'd shoot out a message. Yeah, with the way it's configured now there's no way to remove a cost just in order to rest at all; primarily this is because of the instance where a player doesn't have enough money to rest (the same reason I would be hesitant to require a certain item). In the case of food/water costs, there is always the ability to rest; if the PC can't afford it, and doesn't have food, they can still rest, just at the risk of exhaustion. Making it impossible to complete a rest at all under certain circumstances isn't something I think I'd want added. |
Hey guys. Just revsited this module, and you have really polished this, great work thanks. Looking back at this question: Thanks! |
I don't anticipate adding something like that, mainly because the configuration is agnostic to any player-specific stuff, so there'd be no clean way to set a per-player cost. The only possibility I can think of is a special trait which is a "rest cost multiplier" - but I don't think like that solution enough to add it. |

This is an excellent and incredibly helpful module. Perhaps dragging an item onto the settings interface for the module creates the option for removing X amount of that item per long rest.
