I'm moving some grains to a new server. This means I have to manually install every app used by one of the grains, which is annoying, but beside the point for now.

The problem is that the list in the app market appears to be in random order and there are no sorting options, so it's hard to skim and find the app I know should be there.

Please add at least an alphabetical option.

(There is the search box, but (1) typing is slower, and (2) initially it read to me as an over-broad 'general site search' box, probably because it was in the upper right of a top-of-page stripe and it didn't register at first that that stripe was in fact market-related and not "sandstorm.io" in general.)

+1. I've had a couple users (in testing) mention that the apps seem randomly sorted. We have so many apps already(64) that it's overwhelming to skim through the front-page. As we get more apps it will become increasingly difficult for users to find the apps they're looking for and also discover apps (in a given category) with our existing design.

There are some things we should do to address this:

  1. Enable sorting (perhaps by alphabetical order, rating).
  2. Go back to displaying apps organized by genre on the front page. (We have enough apps in each category now to fill a row for each category displayed.)

Perhaps we should consider moving the search box down by where the apps are listed. Something I will think about. :)
