It is not at all a typing error ( टङ्कनदोष), @vvasuki!!
It is just the Bengali (Eastern Indian) style as in the SKD print--
And also many north-Indian languages use the word thus.
There are innumerable cases of such va-ba variations in SKD and VAC (wrt to West- and South-Indian usage), that one encounters.

If not a typing error, it is a printing error (or writing error) and we should not carry it forward. There is no वीभत्स in sanskrit language. Even SKD lists बीभत्स (https://www.sanskrit-lexicon.uni-koeln.de/scans/csl-apidev/servepdf.php?dict=SKD&page=3-430?debugInfo= ) but never vIbhatsa because the learned author himself knew it to be wrong.
