Fresh (and first-time) install of Caprine v2.60.3 installed via apt-get install caprine on Unbuntu v20.04 LTS.

Many of my chat screens say "Messages are missing. Restore now", but when I click "Restore now" it has absolutely no effect, as if I didn't click anything at all???

This bug makes Caprine pretty much unusable, because I can't see where I left off in each chat.

Same thing here, I just clean installed this for the first time on windows and the "Restore Now" button doesn't do anything.

Yep. Basically unusable now that Facebook defaults to end-to-end encryption.

Workaround done here worked for me.

Thanks for the info!

Will your pending PR for issue #2265 fix this issue #2276 as well?

That sounds like the hidden settings window. The PR will give you an option to disable the hidden settings hack caprine uses to apply some options from its menu. It doesn't fix the underlying problem which is caused when FB makes a change to the UI such that caprine doesn't recognize a window as a settings window so doesn't close it after applying a setting. The latest version has fixed it, but it's possible it's broken again if you're seeing it on the latest version.

In the meantime, you can get around it by unhiding the settings window with dev tools and closing it as described in several other issues. Then you can unlock messages. I'm on mobile now so can't look it up easily.

Thanks for your reply, yes this is happening with what I believe to be the latest version v2.60.3, I did try to manually editing the HTML/CSS using Chrome dev tools, but quickly got lost in a quagmire of obfuscated CSS and couldn't ever find the right thing to disable.

This seems to be a major bug that needs to be addressed somehow??
