Comment by Mees Fix on JIRA:

Brian York this monitor, from what I've heard from the Bryan Hilbert is deprecated. Should we close this ticket and work on removing the grating monitor or should we go ahead and implement the changes in grating monitor and leave it as unimplemented (expecting it might be in the future sometime)?

Comment by Bryan Hilbert on JIRA:

The grating monitor has never been functional. The code for it is in [PR #825 title|[https://github.com//pull/825],] which has never been merged. So I think we can close this ticket.
