However, given all our open issues, we may get more users contributing if they can put bounties on a particular issue or package request, as you can see with algora bounties, for example. Many people may not want to contribute an open-ended donation or subscription to the project as a whole, but would be willing to pay for some smaller concrete goal or package to be added.
We should look into adding some kind of bounty option like that. Not pushing algora or anything, just heard of it, but we should integrate something like that.

Bounty can be good and can be looked into, has been discussed a lot before too here and there.
Note that the 20k of the 22k from github sponsors was from my github accelerator program selection. The payment last week was part of a support contract as well, ideally that will continue in future each month depending on how things go.
I know we have an OpenCollective, which appears to have raised about $5k over the years, most of that coming in a single donation last week. Much more appears to have been raised through github sponsors, almost $22k according to that first link.
