David will look at the packaged dependencies (and dev dependencies) to tell you when you're up to date, out of date or insecure.

Discovered while poking around in dwyl/learn-nightwatch

I get why it's never loading a response; the badge may be for only the dependencies and not dev-dependencies. This project only has dev-dependencies:
