My house came with one of these disused and sitting in the corner. I looked through the documentation and it seems like the it's programable in some fashion to trigger behaviors when audio is sensed on one of the input lines. Any chance you stumbled across how to interact with that capability? I also see that one of the 12V triggers might also be programmable in the same way. Happy to contribute back but have no idea how i would be able to figure out the right command string to send.

I'm not home so I can't check, but I believe there is one 12V trigger for each output. If so, I believe that when audio is sensed on the input it automatically enables the 12V signal. I still have the Control4 controller so can investigate if the config in the app has any settings for this.

in the documentation it seemed to suggest some sort of ability to make output assignment decisions based on audio-sense on an input (say audio input 1 goes hot, switch audio output 2-5 to audio input 1)....i suspect that's a callback of some form that the controller would have to emulate but without documentation or the ability to sniff the wire b/w it and the controller, i couldn't imagine finding the right bitstring.
