Unconsistent UI

Hi everyone! 👋

First off, I want to say how much I love AFFiNE ❤️ and how awesome it is that you offer a self-hosted version.
I've been diving into AFFiNE lately, and so far my experience has been really positive but I want to point out a few things about the UI that I think could be improved.

Duplicated "Create workspace" button

There are two buttons for creating workspaces: "Create workspace" and "Create cloud workspace." But when I click either one, the same popup window appears. My suggestion is to keep a single “Create workspace” button. It seems like having two nearly identical options can be a bit confusing.

Duplicated "Sign out" button

There are two "Sign out" buttons! One is in the workspace switcher, and the other appears after clicking the user icon. Perhaps keeping only the one after clicking the user icon would be more streamlined and user-friendly?

Duplicated "Settings" button

There are two buttons for accessing settings. Both buttons open the same popup window. I suggest keeping the one when clicking the user icon, as many other apps follow this convention.

Other sidebar buttons

• Trash – it's fine, an easy access to deleted notes
• Import: It feels redundant to me. I'll probably only use this option once during the migration from another software and won't need it again but still remains in the sidebar as if I use it every day 🙄 Also the importing button already exists within the dropdown menu when creating a new document in the "All Docs" tab (top right corner)
• Learn more: Perhaps it should be removed? If I need something, I will search for it myself.
• Star us: I've already starred the repository, but the useless (from the perspective of usefulness for my notes) button remains in my user interface, distracting me.

"Download App" button

I don't want the application installed; if I did, I'd download and install it myself. Right now, the software is constantly bothering me with this unnecessary button.

Workspace properties popup is non-intuitive

When I first opened it, the popup appeared to have a column on the left filled with "category" buttons. I assumed that pressing these buttons would change the settings displayed in the right column (especially since they light up when you hover over them). While each button on the left seemed to correspond to a specific row on the right, indicating its associated setting.

Currently I have no idea how it could be improved, but from a UX point of view it is horrible...

Share -> Export?

It took me a while to find the export option; I eventually discovered it's located under the "Share" button. I hope that clarifies what you meant. There should be a separate button next to it for exporting. And if not, the current button should not be called “Share”!

Collections and Tags are duplicated

"Collections" and "Tags" are available as view buttons on the homepage and in the left sidebar. However, "Favorites" and folders are not included in these locations. This inconsistency is noticeable and the duplication of options in the user interface is annoying.

Summary

These are simply my observations as a novice user of AFFINE. You may agree with them, or you may not. My feedback comes from my support for this project.
